Sciences IT must dispose and remove from inventory any College of Sciences computer that’s no longer useful, in compliance with NC State University and Surplus Property Services policy

Before You Begin

All computer surplus must go through Sciences IT, do not send requests directly to University Surplus.

Important Notice

University computers and IT equipment cannot be kept by individuals for purposes unassociated with University business.

All University property must be reused for University business or disposed of through the NC State Surplus Property Office.

What to Include in Your Request

Email us with any of the following information you have available:

  • Quantities
  • Location of equipment
  • Special instructions for accessing equipment
  • Photos

What Happens Next

  • Sciences IT will review your request and schedule a pickup
  • Handle secure data deletion
  • Equipment is released to the NC State Surplus Property Office

Storage of surplus technology is contingent on available space

Data Deletion

Sciences IT will handle the data deletion. All storage devices are securely wiped before surplus following NC State’s Secure Data Removal guidelines. If a drive cannot be wiped, it will be physically destroyed. No action is required from you.
