Good morning College of Sciences colleagues,

Please take a moment to review these important IT updates that may impact you!

Windows 10 End of Support

  • We are still anticipating Microsoft’s end of Support date of Oct. 14, 2025.
  • If you’re running Windows 10 and are able to upgrade to Win 11, please do so as soon as possible.
  • If you have a valid reason for not upgrading or your computer is not compatible with Windows 11, contact help@sciences.ncsu.edu to be granted an exception and enrolled for Microsoft Extended Security Updates.
  • If you continue to run a non-supported version of Windows 10 you may be moved to a restricted network with limited access to resources, and will lose core software functionality.

macOS Tahoe

  • Mac’s latest OS is now available, however we do not recommend updating to Tahoe until we complete our testing.  We will send out a communication once we have verified compatibility with our most common software.

Turning off SMS for DUO 11/5

  • On Nov. 5, OIT will disable SMS as a Duo authentication method. All users will have to use the Duo Mobile app or a security key.
