New IT Resources! 

• We’ve updated our website to streamline how you get help, provide info on our core services, and create a repository for IT Updates. 
• We’ve also created this Start of Semester IT Readiness Guide to help you get off to a smooth start.

Apple Management Changes (Update Required!)

• Sciences IT is transitioning Apple devices to a new University environment. To ensure minimal disruption, you must update to the latest version of the operating system (MacOS 26 Tahoe for computers, iOS 26 for mobile devices)!
  • To update:
    • Backup critical data and ensure you have reliable power and network 
    • Navigate to System Settings > General > Software Update
    • Plan for the update to take ~45 min 
  • Devices that remain on an older operating system require an erase and reinstall and you must reach out to Sciences IT for support as soon as possible!
  • During the migration
    • You will see a notification “Enrollment Required”, click to initiate the process, which should only take about a minute.

• ​Click enroll and enter your device password.

• ​Once enrollment is complete, close the window and your computer will download the new configuration in the background.
• Reach out with any questions or issues! 

Windows 10 Extended Request Renewal 

• If you have a computer running Windows 10 and you are able to update to Windows 11, follow these instructions and do so as soon as possible. 
• Computers not able to upgrade must contact Sciences IT to be re enrolled for Extended Security Updates ASAP!
  • Computers running Windows 10 that have not been enrolled in Extended Security Updates will be isolated on the penalty network without access to the internet.

BioRender Now Available! 

• BioRender is now available at the annual rate of $205.4 per seat. 
• If you have a paid account, you can request a prorated refund and migrate your data to the discounted license.

Reminder about IT Purchases and Reimbursements

• Any software not provided through the University must be approved through the IT Purchasing Compliance or Clickwrap process. The University may not reimburse you for unapproved purchases. Please allow ample time to navigate the process. Previously approved purchases are listed on OIT’s Software site.
